Assistant in the Edu Aid program

“Cesta domov” (The Way home) offers the opportunity to volunteer at a position "Assistant in the Edu Aid program"

The program focuses mainly on the poorest and discriminated children from the lowest caste in India, the caste of untouchables. Many of these children have never attended school because they had to help their parents with work from an early age. Or they left public school because of the huge discrimination and bullying. Education in private schools by the Jesuits is therefore a chance for them and the only solution to their unfair situation. In order, however, we can provide these children with access to quality education, with necessary funds. This study support program helps children receive the financial assistance.

If you are creative, patient, open to learn new things, you like flexible work, have a positive relationship with the children and can handle demanding administrative and organizational activities, this volunteer position is made for you. Position includes both direct work with children, for example helping children with writing letters to the benefactors, making photos, visits of families of the children supported, but also help with light administrative tasks.

Location

Town Manvi, Karnataka, India

The town Manvi is located in Raichur district on the north of south Indian state Karnataka. It is one of the most backward districts in the country. In this area live lots of people from the caste untouchables who are discriminated and marginalized. The unemployment rate is very high and most of people are illiterate. Local people usually work as day laborer.
